Design Notes
Multiple versions of a PFOA-sensitive TMS were attempted (see BBa_K4811024 and BBa_K4811025). In this instance, the aptamer without a stem from J. Park et. al. was included into the D-loop.

The TMS was developed by Avishek Paul during their PhD thesis, see the publication "Modular and Versatile Trans-Encoded Genetic Switches", A. Paul, E. M. Warszawik, M. Loznik, A. J. Boersma, A. Herrmann, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2020, 59, 20328.
The PFOA-sensitive aptamer was developed via SELEX , see the publication "Novel ssDNA aptamer-based fluorescence sensor for perfluorooctanoic acid detection in water", Junyoung Park, Kyung-Ae Yang, Yongju Choi, Jong Kwon Choe, Environment International, 2022, 158 107000."
